Our river cruise with Avalon is probably my favorite couples trip John and I have ever taken.  We flew into Paris and then took the train the next day to Aryle, where we boarded the ship.  River cruising is a different experience from ocean cruising.  The ships are small and intimate.  We loved our itinerary (Aryle, Port St. Louis, Avignon, Vivers, Lyon).

This was an active and discovery cruise.  This allowed passengers to choose between 3 different excursions at each port (included in the cruise price).  John and I choose the “active” option at each port (France on Two Wheels: Camargue Nature Park, Hit the Trail Hike: Val d’Enfer & Carrieres de Lumieres, Olive Oil Tasting in Les Baux de Provence, Gard by Mountain eBike, Pont du Gard Kayak Adventures, Ghostly Viviers, Kayaking in Gorges de l’Ardeche-Europes Grand Canyon, Gorges du Doux Rail-Bike Adventure, Bites and Highlights of Lyon and Delights of Beaujolais with Wine Discovery.  These were ALL INCLUDED in our cruise.  There were also excursion options that did not require as much physical stamina.
