Why All-Inclusives are good for all ages

What do you think of when you hear ‘All-Inclusive Resort’?

All-Inclusive Resort many times is a phrase that brings to mind, all you care to eat food, open bars with inexpensive offerings, and people everywhere.  At one point this may have been the case.  In recent years the move to a more luxurious experience has proved successful.

No matter the age, newly married, families with young kids, empty nesters, and even seniors can find something for themselves.  More and more people are wanting to travel with friends in their friend group to celebrate an annual vacation, a significant birthday, an anniversary or just to simply travel somewhere fun.

If you are looking for relaxing time on the beach and pool, horseback riding, paddle boarding, tennis, golf, or even a foam party (yes, a foam party) at the pool there is an option for you.  If you are a foodie, there are even options with highly-rated restaurants to experience.

Whatever you want to do, however active you want to be there is an all-inclusive option for you.  To begin your all-inclusive vacation reach out to your travel agent and talk about what you are looking for.

Over-the-Water Bungalows at Sandals Grand St. Lucian

These gorgeous Over-the-Water bungalows convey an intimate connection to the Caribbean Sea and deliver complete immersion of the fine turquoise waters and rich marine life below.

Glass floor panels and lit water ensure you can enjoy undersea views at any time. Couples can also admire the beauty of the ocean from their private outdoor Tranquility Soaking Tub for two or over-water hammocks.

Every bungalow captures the height of luxury with hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, custom crafted king-size beds adorned with soft linens, and plush pillows for the ultimate sleep experience.

Inside, each bungalow is also equipped with a smart TV and a large ceiling fan to stay cool while enjoying fresh Caribbean breezes. The bathrooms are equipped with his and her sinks, a large backlit mirror adorned with mosaic tile, and a walk-in rain shower.

Outside, your private patio is also equipped with an extended sun deck, outdoor shower, sun loungers, and a bistro set for two.

Butler Elite service, which handles every detail of your vacation with unobtrusive grace, private airport transfers, and 24-hour room service, is included to complete your over-water vacation.

Jamaica – The Heartbeat of the World

Rich in history, cultural diversity, and nature at its very best, it’s no wonder that Jamaica is referred to as “The Heartbeat of the World.” The very mention of this island paradise conjures up images of romance, with its sprawling beaches, tranquil Caribbean waters, lush tropical landscapes, and spectacular sunsets, making it an ideal spot for weddings and honeymoons. Add to that its sunny climate and vibrant nightlife, and you’ve got a unique destination that truly has it all.

The “Home of Rhythm and Sway” has friendly island hospitality down to a science. Nothing is a problem here, where soft reggae sounds harmonize with waves lapping on the shoreline, the Blue Mountains tower over verdant plains, and 10 championship golf courses with breathtaking views invite visitors to get into the swing of things. From its famous meat patties and jerk chicken; to some of the most celebrated rums, liqueurs, and coffee in the world, the cuisine of Jamaica is nothing short of amazing.

Jamaica hotels pioneered the all-inclusive vacation concept in the 1970s, and while operations have been redesigned since the pandemic, the heart of the all-inclusive model hasn’t changed. The luxury is still there—but more innovative. The recreation is still there—but safer. The selection is still there—but with a focus on hygiene. And even though new sanitation requirements are rigorous, they’re also unobtrusive. Travelers continue to get that vacation feeling they’re accustomed to. Plus, with reduced occupancy, stays feel more private and services more white glove, actually enhancing the experience.

Home to a modern international airport, Montego Bay is perfect for short stays and extended trips. The Hip Strip brings a festive vibe, the Rose Hall Great House contributes legend and culture, and rafting down the Martha Brae adds the thrill of adventure. On the north coast, Ocho Rios draws visitors to Dunns River Falls, where they can climb the falls and swim in natural pools that drain into the Caribbean. The Cool Runnings Dunns River Day Cruise makes even getting to this iconic site fun. Thirty minutes from Runaway Bay is Nine Mile, the birthplace of Bob Marley, with a mausoleum dedicated to this musical icon. On the island’s western tip, Negril, the “Capital of Casual,” beckons visitors to the white sands of Seven Mile Beach. Discover the “Capital of Casual” on the Negril Beach and Sunset Tour, with ample time to swim, shop, visit Margaritaville, and end the day at Rick’s Cafe to witness locals diving from 35-foot cliffs as the gorgeous sunset illuminates the horizon. Exciting excursions are available from all the resort areas, and in most cases, guests are picked up right from their hotel lobby!

So whether you want to enjoy exhilarating adventures or simply relax to the max under the tropical sun, the proud and friendly Jamaican people are waiting with wide smiles to welcome you back to their island home.

The Grounds of the Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort

We’ve talked about the food, and we’ve talked about the beach. Now let’s take a look at the grounds of the beautiful Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort. You’ll find touches of romance everywhere you look and plenty of places to relax and soak up the sun.

Of course, the day I was taking most of these pictures was rainy! Just my luck. But the sun did clear after only about an hour of actual rain, and the next day was bright blue skies. You’ll see a mix of sunny and overcast pictures below!

Let’s start with the little touches of romance and happiness you’ll find throughout the resort.

You’ll find plenty of hammocks to relax, take a nap, read a book, or enjoy the Caribbean breeze.

This was the view from the hammock. I relaxed on it while the rain came through. It was lovely!

The Main Pool was lively and fun, with great bartenders and afternoon activities.

The Main Pool looks so cool at night, and there is often evening entertainment in this area. Check out my Chocolate Martini! I enjoyed it while waiting for that evening’s show, which happened IN the pool. It was so cool!

There are two quiet pools. One is located very close to the Main Pool. You can still hear the fun happening next door but in a more relaxed setting.

The other quiet pool is located farther away and is called the “Lovers Pool”. And look — it’s shaped like a heart.

You can enjoy massages at the end of the pier during the day.

You’ll find lots of fire pits located throughout the resort. They are great places to relax during the day and come to life at night.

The Food at Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort

Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort has beautiful grounds, a stunning beach, over-water bungalows, and delicious food. This week I’m going to take you on a little food tour from my recent visit.

Our first night was an amazing alfresco dinner at Gordon’s Over the Water Restaurant. Gordon’s is the most upscale restaurant at Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort.

Here is a view of our seating area. There is also covered seating, but I was delighted to watch the sunset and dine under the stars.

My appetizer – Pan-fried Scallops. These were amazing, and the portion was much larger than I’d expect at an All-Inclusive Resort.

My entree was the Surf and Turf, and this one really blew my mind! I am typically a light eater, but I finished the entire dish.

I had the carrot cake for dessert, and it was the perfect way to end this wonderful meal.

We had a cocktail reception before dinner, walked along the beach to have dinner on the pier. The sunset was spectacular!

I had a light breakfast at Toscanini’s. My favorite part was the iced coffee. I realize iced coffee may not seem very exciting, but most of the time, when I’m at an All-Inclusive resort, and I order an iced coffee, I am brought hot coffee that was poured over ice and immediately melted. At Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort, the waiter brought me an actual iced coffee. I could tell the coffee had been chilled, and the ice didn’t melt. It’s the little things in life that make us happy!

I ordered the Smoothie Bowl for breakfast. It was tiny but very delicious.

I was extremely excited to have lunch at the Jerk Shack. It smelled so good every time I walked by. I finally had the opportunity on my last day. But sadly……..

…it wasn’t good. I ordered the Jerk Pork, and the flavor was just not there. Also, the pork was extremely fatty. I literally left after 2 bites.

But the good news is Dinos Pizzeria was just a few steps away! The pizzas are sized for 2 people to share. As I was traveling solo, I decided to eat my half by eating only my favorite part of the pizza — the middle. The joys of traveling solo!

The kind waitress brought me a crepe, and I did have a few bites. WOW! It was seriously one of the best crepes I’ve ever had! I wish I had started my meal with the crepe!

Dinner at Bombay Club was my favorite. The food is all small plates designed to share. Luckily, this night I was dining with two other Travel Advisors and my host at Sandals.

These were just the appetizers! And there are a few you can’t see in this picture. I was so excited, and I totally forgot to take pictures of the entrees. But trust me, they were good! We were all too stuffed to order dessert.

Barefood by the Sea was one of my favorite spots. Your feet are in the sand, and you can’t beat that view.

I ordered the Popcorn Shrimp Salad, and it was perfect. The salad was crisp, and the dressing was light. And who doesn’t love popcorn shrimp?

The morning I departed, I ordered room service to enjoy breakfast on my balcony. The iced coffee was not as good as the one at Toscanini’s, but it was ok. Luckily I asked for extra ice, so I made it work. The oatmeal was delicious. I asked for a “side of eggs,” but as you can see, they sent a full meal with hash browns and bacon. Ahhhh, the All-Inclusive life!

I’ll end with a picture of my first glass of wine, which I enjoyed from the open-air lobby overlooking the ocean. I want to point out that I am a bit of a wine snob, and oftentimes at All-Inclusive Resorts, I don’t drink much wine because the house wines aren’t that great. But the Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort had the absolute best house wine I’ve ever had. Below is the Sauvignon Blanc, my favorite.

The Beach at Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort

I had the pleasure of spending a few days at the Sandals Grand St. Lucian Resort, and it was amazing! I have pictures of food, rooms, restaurants, and more. Today I’ll show you the beach of this Instagram-worthy resort. The sunsets are spectacular!

This resort has a long beach with plenty of hammocks along the way to relax and enjoy the view.

The sand was lovely!

During the day, you can get a massage at the end of this dock. At night, it turns into a lively place to have drinks and sit by the fire.

Barefoot by the Sea – have lunch or dinner with your feet in the sand and stunning ocean views.

Those chairs are just asking to be on Instagram!

Two angles from my oceanview balcony.

STUNNING SUNSETS!

The list of chefs includes Michelin-starred Chef Paco Méndez, who will oversee signature restaurant “Encanta.” Jonathan Gómez Luna, the award-winning chef, will oversee “Chino Poblano,” a culinary concept that combines the cuisine of China and the state of Puebla with a fun and sophisticated culinary touch. Mexico’s most well-regarded chef, Ricardo Muñoz Zurita, will delight the most demanding palates at “Xaak,” which celebrates indigenous foods from the Yucatan Peninsula. Additional renowned chefs include Alejandro Ruiz, a master in Oaxacan cuisine; Chef Roberto Solis, creator of the newly inspired Yucatecan cuisine; Chef Miguel Bautista with sensational vegan cuisine; Chef Orlando Trejo a master in comfort food; renowned Italian chef Franco Maddalozzo, who will fuse the flavors from both the Mediterranean and Mexican coasts; and Chef Luis Arzapalo, who will showcase the best of oriental culinary arts.

Ten bars and lounges spread throughout the property from poolside to rooftop feature fresh, local ingredients in custom cocktails for a range of high-end contemporary mixology experiences. Speakeasy bar “Deseo,” a hidden and cozy space will delight guests with live jazz entertainment.

Hotel Xcaret Arte will also be the center stage for big events and celebrations, offering two Convention Centers and an entertainment stage that can host between 1,140 and 2,065 people, respectively. Additionally, the resort is home to an oceanfront Ecumenical Chapel offering different types of ceremonies for up to 120 guests.

Muluk Spa, an indulgent and mystical wellness center surrounded by the iconic coves of Hoteles Xcaret, features a plethora of treatments and facilities, including a variety of hydrotherapies, flotation spas, mudrooms, and vapor treatments. In addition to an Alchemists Studio where guests are invited to create their oils, scents, lotions, and potions, making their Spa treatment a personal and unique experience.

A Closer Look at Sandals Regency La Toc

We are fans of Sandals resorts for so many reasons.  Luxury included is just one of them.  Recently the Chairman and Founder of Sandals Resorts International, Gordon “Butch” Stewart sadly passed away but leaves a legacy of excellence for all to enjoy.  Butch once said that they look for their properties by selecting the most beautiful beach and locations in the Caribbean.  And this is certainly true!

St. Lucia will soon open its fourth Sandals property which will make it even more difficult to decide which one to visit.  Well, maybe you will just have to visit all four!  One of our clients’ favorite St. Lucia Sandals is Regency La Toc.  Click here to find out more about this quaint Sandals property.

Negative COVID-19 Test Now Required to Enter St. Lucia

International travel advisories are constantly changing, but more importantly, the travel restrictions are constantly changing.

I will be heading to St. Lucia in a few weeks (get ready for some great info on Sandals Resorts!), and I’ve had to learn all about the requirements to get into St. Lucia, as well as the requirements to get home. I also needed to fully understand how the timing of my COVID-19 test while in St. Lucia is critical.

Luckily, I’m staying at a Sandals Resort, and they handle all of this at the resort, so you don’t need to leave to get a COVID-19 test.

Check out this great article from our friends at The Compass, including direct links to the official resources. If you have additional questions, reach out to your Travel Advisor!

Catamaran Excursion at Beaches Turks and Caicos

It’s hard to believe that Laura and I were at Beaches Turks and Caicos for the 2019 STAR Awards just one year ago. We had an amazing four days at this spectacular resort.

One highlight for me was our Catamaran Excursion. The water in Turks and Caicos is absolute perfection! And I’d never been on a Catamaran before. So I was crazy excited.

On our journey over to the private island, we literally had dolphins swimming alongside our boat. It was like a movie! I did not get pictures, as I wanted to enjoy the moment. But trust me, it was amazing!

We then had about an hour to swim and relax on a tiny, private beach. Normally we could also have snorkeled, but sadly the wind was too strong on this particular day. But I did enjoy simply relaxing in the warm Caribbean water. It was so relaxing.

We then journeyed back to Beaches, and on our boat ride home, watched the most incredible sunset over the water.

But as we all know, pictures speak louder than words!
